A free kite procession at Tudor Grange Park on 3 October, half term at Castle Bromwich and Packwood, then the Round Table fireworks on 7 November.

The first Saturday of October is the big free day in Solihull: Under the Same Sky brings a community kite procession and an aerial dance show to Tudor Grange Park on 3 October, the same afternoon Solihull Moors are at home. The Core Theatre carries most of the month after that, with two local-company musicals, a run of tribute nights and Milton Jones at the comedy club. Half term, 26 to 30 October, moves outdoors to Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens and Packwood House. Then comes bonfire week, and this year the Solihull Round Table display is back on Saturday 7 November.

Under the Same Sky, Saturday 3 October

A free family afternoon at Tudor Grange Park, Monkspath Hall Road, B91 3LU, from 2pm to 4pm. Kites made over the summer by Solihull schools and community groups go round the park in a procession, which ends under a seven-metre rig for Autin Dance Theatre’s aerial show, Up in the Sky. Solihull Round Table Fireworks, Saturday 7 November

The borough’s biggest bonfire night is confirmed at Tudor Grange Park, B91 3LU. Gates and the funfair open at 4.30pm, the bonfire is lit at 6.30pm, a lower-noise family display goes up at 7pm and the 15-minute main display, set to music, at 8pm. The event ends at 9pm and the gates close at 9.30pm.

Tickets are online only, with no gate sales, and the price rises at each release. Early bird tickets, on sale until 11.59pm on Friday 9 October, are £9 for anyone 12 or over arriving before 6pm and £10 after, and £3.50 or £4 for children aged 3 to 11. From 10 October the second release is £11 to £13 for adults, and from 31 October the final release is £15 to £16. Under 3s go free. There is no event parking on site; pre-paid spaces are at Solihull College’s Blossomfield campus, B91 1SB (Solihull Round Table). Our Solihull fireworks page has every display in the borough.

Regular events

  • Brueton parkrun, every Saturday at 9am. A free timed 5k starting by the tennis courts in Malvern Park, off Warwick Road, B91 3HW. Register once before your first run and bring your barcode (parkrun).

Getting there

The Core Theatre and The Core Library are in Theatre Square at Touchwood, a short walk from Solihull station, and they share the shopping centre’s car parks. Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens is on Chester Road in the north of the borough. Packwood House is just over the Warwickshire boundary, two miles east of Hockley Heath.
