The Solihull Post is an independent news and information site for the borough of Solihull. We are not Birmingham coverage with a Solihull tag on it, and we are not connected to the council. We read the borough’s own records and publish what is in them.
The borough
Solihull town centre, Olton and Shirley, then Knowle, Dorridge, Bentley Heath, Balsall Common, Temple Balsall, Barston, Hockley Heath, Cheswick Green, Meriden and Hampton-in-Arden out through the Arden villages. To the north, Chelmsley Wood, Kingshurst, Fordbridge, Marston Green and Castle Bromwich, which are part of the same council and have a very different set of concerns. Bickenhill holds the airport and the NEC. All of it is one authority, and that is the level most decisions here are made at.
What we cover
Planning first, because in a borough with this much green belt and this much pressure on it, the planning register is where the real arguments are recorded. Then licensing, council spending and committee decisions, police.uk crime data, sold prices from HM Land Registry, Food Standards Agency hygiene ratings, Environment Agency flood warnings for the Blythe and the Cole, and company filings in The Gazette. We also maintain the reference pages people search for: bins, parking and council tax bands.

Every fact is linked to the document behind it, so you can check the original. Where a record is ambiguous we say it is ambiguous rather than choosing the reading that makes a better story. We do not run press releases as reporting, we do not use other outlets’ photographs, and we write in plain British English.
Tips and corrections
