Winter Funland is in NEC Hall 5 from 5 December to 3 January, closed Christmas Day. Four-hour sessions from 11am and 5pm; £35 a head, family of four £137.50.

Winter Funland, the indoor Christmas funfair, is back in Hall 5 at the NEC from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. It is closed on Christmas Day. One ticket covers four hours of unlimited funfair rides, the ice rink, a circus show and a motorbike stunt show, and it costs £35 a head, adult or child, plus a booking fee.

The NEC is in the Solihull borough, at Bickenhill, so this is the biggest Christmas attraction on the borough’s own patch. Everything below was checked against the organisers’ and the NEC’s own pages on 14 October 2026.

The quick answer

  • When: Saturday 5 December to Sunday 3 January, every day except Christmas Day.
  • Sessions: four hours, starting at 11am or 5pm (the NEC lists opening times as 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm). The sessions on 2 and 3 January last three and a half hours.
  • Price: £35 an adult, £35 a child aged 3 and over, £137.50 for a family of four, under 3s free. All plus a booking fee.
  • Where: NEC Hall 5, B40 1NT. Parking is booked separately with the NEC.
  • Is it on this year? Yes. The organisers’ site and the NEC’s event page both give 5 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.

Dates and session times

Winter Funland runs daily from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, and the ticket page says plainly that it is not open on 25 December.

Each ticket is for one session, and a session lasts four hours from the time printed on your ticket. The NEC’s event page gives the opening times as 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm, which is two sessions a day. The exceptions are 2 and 3 January, when sessions last three and a half hours (NEC, Winter Funland).

The organisers cap the number of tickets per session and say they will post on their website when days sell out. Neither site showed a sold-out date on 14 October.

Sensory friendly sessions: Monday 14 December at 11am and 5pm, with reduced flashing lights, the music turned down and a lower capacity (Winter Funland).

Ticket prices

These are the organisers’ prices, each plus a booking fee:

Ticket Price
Adult (16 and over) £35
Child (3 to 16) £35
Family of four £137.50
Under 3s Free, but a ticket is needed
Carer Free, ticket needed

The family ticket is two adults and two children, or one adult and three children, and saves £2.50 on four single tickets. The ticket page lists the adult band as 16 and over and the child band as 3 to 16; the FAQ says anyone over 16 needs an adult ticket, which is the rule to book by.

Carers get in free with a full-paying disabled visitor, one per paid ticket, with printed or photographic proof of DLA or PIP in the visitor’s name. An under 3 who qualifies as a carer still needs one paying guest in the group.

The only official sellers are Klicket and Ticketline; the organisers say tickets bought anywhere else will not scan. Ticketline offers a three-month payment plan on early bookings. There will also be a box office on site, but the organisers advise checking online first that your session has not sold out (Winter Funland FAQs).

What the ticket includes

The ticket covers every ride and attraction for the session: the funfair (the organisers name a pirate ship, a Twister, dodgems, waltzers, a funhouse and carousels for smaller children), the ice rink, the Christmas circus and the motorbike stunt show. Food, drink and the prize games are extra, and you cannot take your own food or drink in.

  • Ice skating is for ages 4 and up, in sessions capped at 20 minutes, though you can queue again. Everyone skating signs a waiver on site, and the rink closes 30 minutes before the end of each session.
  • Circus and stunt shows run twice in every session.
  • Under 3s can go on any ride they are tall enough for, but not all of them will suit.
  • No adults on their own: because it is a family event, single adults are not let in unless accompanied by a child.

The organisers ask visitors to arrive 30 minutes before the session for the walk from the car park and the security checks, which include bag searches. There is a cloakroom, baby changing, cash machines and a bar near the ice rink. Dogs are not allowed, except assistance dogs (Winter Funland FAQs).

Parking and getting there

Parking is not included and is booked directly with the NEC. The NEC now runs an ANPR car park and says booking in advance saves £5 on the standard rate, provided you book before midnight the day before (NEC parking). For a sat nav, use B40 1NT and follow the signs for Winter Funland and Hall 5.

By train, Birmingham International station is on the NEC site and linked to the halls by a covered walkway. Disabled parking is in the NEC car parks, and wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be hired from the NEC’s mobility centre, but only if booked in advance.

Coming from the town centre, our parking in Solihull page has the council car parks, and Solihull roadworks and travel has anything closed on the M42 and A45 around the NEC.
