Foghorn Unscripted makes up a whole murder mystery from audience suggestions at Henley-in-Arden Memorial Hall on 17 October, 7.30pm, £15, age 12 and over.
A Birmingham improv group is bringing a murder mystery with no script, no plot and no culprit decided in advance to Henley-in-Arden Memorial Hall on Saturday 17 October. Foghorn Unscripted builds An Improvised Murder live from what the audience shouts out, so nobody in the room, cast included, knows who did it until the end.
Quick answer: Saturday 17 October 2026, doors 7pm, show 7.30pm to 9.30pm, Henley-in-Arden Memorial Hall, Station Road, B95 5JP. Age 12 and over. Tickets are listed at £15 on Skiddle (checked 8 October 2026).
What the show is
Marcus Hendry of Foghorn Unscripted wrote to us about the Henley date. “The unusual bit is that there is genuinely no script and no predetermined murderer,” he said. “We create an entirely new murder mystery live from audience suggestions, so neither the audience nor the cast knows how it’s going to end.”
The group’s press release puts it the same way: “There is no script, no predetermined murderer and no rehearsed solution. Instead, suggestions from the audience inspire the characters and story, with the cast creating an entirely new comedy murder mystery live on stage.”
And then, in their words: “Someone will die. Secrets will emerge. Suspects will appear. But who committed the murder? The cast don’t know. The audience don’t know. And occasionally, the murderer may be just as surprised as everyone else.”

On the show’s own page the group says it creates “a classic whodunnit” from the audience’s suggestions: “Who dies horribly? Who is the murderer? What awful secrets are revealed? The audience are the puppet masters and the fate of the characters are in their hands!”
If that sounds like a night of being hauled up on stage, the release says otherwise: “The audience provides the inspiration, but nobody needs to worry about being dragged onto the stage!”
Who Foghorn Unscripted are
The group describes itself on its website as “an established group of comedy improvisers from Birmingham”, with five to eight performers in each show drawn from a pool of local improvisers. Its shows page says it was created in 2012 and began with a monthly slot at The Old Joint Stock theatre in Birmingham, before a sell-out Edinburgh show and touring.
Mr Hendry says the group has been performing together for more than ten years, and that An Improvised Murder won Best Show at Birmingham Fest 2024. The group’s most recent listed date before Henley was a Birmingham-themed version of the show at the Birmingham Council House on 24 September, for International Day of Birmingham.

The group has also put clips of its work online. This one, from its own videos page, is a short excerpt from one of its What the Dickens?! shows, a different improvised format, which gives a sense of how the cast works without a script.
