Nominate a Solihull neighbour, volunteer or group by 11.59pm on 16 November. Eight awards are open, self-nominations count, and winners are named on 22 March.

Nominations are open for the Solihull Civic Honours Awards 2027. You have until 11.59pm on Monday 16 November to put forward a neighbour, volunteer, group or charity.

The council opened nominations on 12 October. Winners will be named at a ceremony at The Core Theatre on Monday 22 March 2027, presented by the Mayor of Solihull.

You can nominate yourself or your own group. Touchwood is the main sponsor, and the council says the scheme is fully paid for by sponsors.

The eight awards you can nominate for

The council’s release lists nine awards. One, the Mayor’s Award, is chosen by the Mayor personally and is not open to public nominations. That leaves eight, according to the Civic Honours page.

What makes a nomination count

The council’s frequently asked questions set out the rules:

  • No anonymous nominations. You must give your own contact details.
  • Evidence matters. Nominations without supporting evidence “will not be considered”. The council asks for stories, outcomes, testimonials and measurable impact.
  • One award per nomination. You can send several, but each must be written for its own category.
  • Past nominees can be nominated again.
  • Ask first. The council asks you to check whether your nominee is happy to share a phone number or email address.

Shortlisted nominees are contacted nearer the ceremony. The council will tell winners in the new year.

What it means for you

If someone on your street, in your club or at your place of worship has made a difference, this is the borough’s main way of saying so. The nomination form is online. Questions go to civichonours@solihull.gov.uk.

The council’s awards criteria document gives three worked examples for each award. It is linked from the Civic Honours page, and is worth reading before you write.

Past winners, in the council’s words, included someone who helps young people connect with their community through music and technology, and a Community First Responder who volunteers to give life-saving help in medical emergencies.
